A simple how to—
Gently massage warm sesame oil into your skin from head to toe.
Apply a layer of oil to your whole body first, then go back to massage.
Make circles over your joints, belly, & breasts and make long strokes moving toward your heart everywhere else.
Start at your head & work to your feet.
Sesame oil is recommended as it goes deepest into the body. Take it to a higher level by using an herbal oil from Banyan Botanicals. My favorites are their shirodhara oil, daily massage oil, ashwagandha bala sesame oil, and brahmi sesame oil. Leave the oil on your body for at least 20 minutes, but several hours or all day is better.
Then wash off in a bath or shower. A bath is superior because it will open your pores more and pull the oil deeper into your skin.
Use minimal shampoo and soap so that you don’t strip your body of oils once again. Less is more. A gentle sandalwood soap is recommended. There is also something called udvartana powder which can be used in place of soap & is an exfoliant made of soft fragrant legume + herb powders. I can share more about that in another post some time if you want me to, just let me know.
